From The President

Welcome to the  IPMS Richard I. Bong website. 

Who are we?  We are a local Chapter of the International Plastic Modelers Society - USA, located in the greater Milwaukee area.  Our Chapter is named after Major Richard I. Bong, the USA’s highest scoring Ace of all time.  Major Bong is credited with shooting down 40 enemy planes while flying P-38’s in the Pacific Theater during WWII.  Our Club has over 100 members with a wide range of modeling interests, from planes to cars, ships to tanks, and even figures and science fiction.

What do we do?  We promote model building as a hobby through build sessions open to the public, “Make and Take” days for the next generation of model builders, and volunteer projects for museums.  Mostly however, our Club is about enjoying building models and helping each other become better model builders.  We share tips and techniques that make building great looking models easier and faster.

Our Club meets the second Friday of each month at 7:30 pm, at the Wauwatosa Savings Bank, located just south of College Avenue on South 27^th Street in Milwaukee.  At the meetings, there may be an “In-club”, theme contest or even a guest speaker. Members can also display their latest projects.
